Mission

To represent the interests of the general faculty to the institution and to advise the institution on matters pertaining to the general faculty.

Goals
  1. Monitor, assess, and implement policies and procedures related to faculty assessment, rank and grievance procedures.
  2. Promote the representation and interests of the faculty in regards to existing and proposed institutional policies and practices.
  3. Partner with the rest of the MSOE community in the university's planning and decision making process.

The officers of the Faculty Council are elected annually at the Spring meeting for a term of one year. The Council is led by the chairperson who is elected by the council at large. Additionally a vice-chair and secretary are elected by the Faculty Senate.

For more information about the Faculty Council consult the by-laws, and faculty handbook or by consulting a current senator.

The Faculty Senate

The Faculty Senate is composed of members elected by individual academic departments. Currently each department is allowed to select one senator for each seven full-time faculty members.

The Senate is empowered to act on behalf of the Faculty Council with all successful motions and resolutions subject to review by the Council. The Senate typically meets on a weekly or bi-weekly basis during the regular academic year. Faculty senators are typically involved in a number of committees and other campus activities.

The approved minutes of Senate meetings can be accessed via any MSOE IP address.

The Senate currently meets every Friday at 10 a.m., usually in the Schroeder Room. Guests are welcome at all meetings. Contact the current Council Chair for a current meeting schedule.
