B.S. in Industrial Engineering

The Field

Are you the type of person who likes to make things more efficient? Perhaps you see somebody working and you think, ‘there's an easier, better way.'

That's the role of industrial engineers. They determine the most effective ways for an organization to use its resources - people, machines, materials, methods and procedures, information and energy. They are often in charge of quality control.

But an industrial engineer also has to be a people person. You'll work with people as much as machines - anywhere you're needed to make things work more efficiently.

The Program

You will learn and grow in an intimate, interactive learning environment with personal involvement from professors with significant industrial and business experience.

While at MSOE you will learn to:

  • Apply what you learn through rigorous work in our industry-standard laboratories
  • Understand the role and responsibility of your career and have a strong basis in ethics
  • Realize that lifelong learning and personal / professional growth and development are fundamental to success in your ever-changing career

You will also actively collaborate with business and industry on initiatives of mutual benefit to students, faculty and business / industry clients. A side benefit of your involvement is knowing people in the industry before you even graduate.

Curriculum

The MSOE Advantage

MSOE offers an engaging environment, where you learn and form friendships with professors and classmates. Growing as a person is stressed as well as growing intellectually.

We are connected across campus, but also within the community. You have time to visit the cultural sites that surround our campus, volunteer in the community, or go out for some fun.

While learning, you'll be amazed by the quality of our labs and the equipment and software you use. In fact, it will likely be the same you use as you start your new career.

The Results

Last year's graduates all found jobs within six months (100% placement rate) and the average starting salary was $54,900.

They started great careers with companies such as:

  • John Deere
  • Cooper Power Systems
  • Generac
  • Cardinal Health
  • Accenture
