Kern Center

Meet other students while staying fit in body and spirit. Work out, ice skate, run, play volleyball or other sports with friends — all in the Kern Center . This 210,000-square-foot recreation, athletic, health and wellness facility houses the Athletics Department, the Servant-Leadership Office, Health Services and Counseling Services.

The center exemplifies MSOE's philosophy of a well-rounded university experience and is an attractive gathering place that provides students with ample access to fitness, whether they are participating in NCAA athletics, intramural sports or individual fitness programs. Opened in fall 2004, the Kern Center has since won many design awards. Community memberships are available. Visit the Kern Center Web page for details.

It is named to honor its major benefactor, The Robert and Patricia Kern Family Foundation. Drs. Robert and Patricia Kern are the founders of Generac Power Systems, Waukesha, Wis. , a large manufacturer of generators for industrial and consumer markets. In 2006, they sold the business. Dr. Robert Kern is an MSOE Regent and both he and his wife, Patricia, have been longtime supporters of MSOE.
