2 + 2 TRANSFER PROGRAM

MSOE requires that students complete at least 50 percent of the credits in a degree program at MSOE. The maximum percentage of a program's credits that a student can transfer is 50 percent. Because the BSM is a +2 degree completion program, students awarded junior status upon admission are considered to have the maximum number of transferable credit. Therefore, BSM students are required to complete all of the credits outlined in the junior and senior portion of the BSM program. In cases where a student may have completed courses at another college or university that are also required in the BSM program (e.g., MS-361 Marketing), an evaluation will be done of those courses. If a course is determined to be an equivalent, advanced standing will be granted. Students will be allowed to substitute elective credits for any advanced standing awards. For instance, if advanced standing for MS-361 Marketing is granted, then the student may choose an elective course to satisfy the three credits assigned to MS-361.

MSOE has arranged transfer agreements with several Wisconsin state technical colleges that give students full credit for their associate degree so students can complete a bachelor's degree in two years, attending on a full-time basis. Check the transfer agreement page for details.

ACADEMIC YEAR

The academic year at MSOE is divided into three 11-week quarters, September through May. Courses also are offered during the summer. MSOE's 11-week academic quarters provide students an advantage because they have the opportunity to cover one-third more course material than is possible in a typical 16-week semester. The following graphic illustrates this advantage:

Classes are available at the downtown Milwaukee campus and at outreach locations in the Fox Valley area, Brookfield/Waukesha, Sheboygan/Port Washington and Racine/Kenosha.

Current outreach locations/courses links Fox Valley Region Extension and Brookfield.

TIME TO COMPLETION

A student admitted to the program having all admission prerequisites satisfied can complete the program in six quarters, or two academic years of study (see the Model Full-Time Track available as .pdf). Part-time study is available with classes offered during the evening. Several time-to-completion options are possible based on the number classes taken each quarter. Classes are available during four academic quarters: fall, winter, spring and summer. The Model Part-Time Track available as .pdf reflects a five-year time to completion allowing summers off.
