MSOE Alumni Association
Invitation to Serve

The year 2000 marked the approval of a new set of bylaws that outlined a new structure and operating system for the alumni association. Since then, the alumni board of directors has been implementing necessary structures and tools to effectively transition from the existing operating system to the system identified to carry us into our next centennial. Now, the Alumni Association is prepared to operate according to the new bylaws. This will include:

  • A streamlined & strategic alumni board of directors
  • A stronger network of Alumni Chapters
  • Alumni needs, student support, events, financial support, and chapter strength committees

There are nine positions available for alumni participation. As the term of each position nears completion, nomination papers will be forwarded to the Nominations & Bylaws Director. At least two (2) members of the Nomination and Bylaws Committee will meet with the candidate to discuss expectations and commitment. The Nomination and Bylaws Committee then shall decide whether to recommend the candidate to the Association. The candidate is made aware of the nomination committee's recommendation decision.

Recommendations are then presented to the Executive Committee for election. Following election, new members shall be notified of their election to the board 30 days prior to the Annual Meeting. The new directors will be announced at the Annual Meeting of the Association and will take office immediately.

The positions are:

Officers:
  • President
  • President Elect
  • Secretary/Treasurer
Committee Directors:
  • Chapter Strength Director
  • Nominations & Bylaws Director
  • Alumni Needs Director
  • Events Director
  • Financial Support Director
  • Professional Support Director

The Bylaws contain descriptions of each of these positions. All Board members accept the following responsibilities:

  • Attend regular meetings of the board
  • Serve on at least one committee of the board
  • Be knowledgeable of MSOE interests, programs, policies, and events
  • Actively participate in MSOE events
  • Represent the interests of MSOE
  • Work to ensure fulfillment of the Association's mission and purpose
  • Actively support the MSOE Annual Fund
  • Meet other expectations as the Board may deem appropriate

In addition to Board positions, there is a need for alumni to volunteer time, ideas and support to committee level work. This may be the perfect opportunity for an alumnus who may not have either sufficient time or interest to commit to a leadership role. However, without volunteers to work at the committee level, our goal to move our Alumni Association forward cannot be met.

If you have an interest in one of the above positions, please complete the appropriate application:

If you would like to nominate someone, please send an e-mail to Cathy Varebrook with the person's name and e-mail address or phone number. If you would like more information, please don't hesitate to contact either Cathy or Candy Barone '95.
