Projects
- Charter Grade School and Day Care
The client for this section is the Community Villages Ltd. This group desires to build a charter grade school and attached day care. The proposed site location is near the intersection of North Avenue and 32nd Street. The lack of large contiguous parcels of land will most likely require a two-story solution. It is anticipated that the school will serve grades K3 through 5. The school will have offices, classrooms, a multipurpose room (gymnasium and cafeteria), a kitchen, and other typical rooms associated with a school of this size (approximately 34,000 square feet).
- Cudahy Transit Center
The client for this section is the City of Cudahy. The proposed project is the extension of the Chicago Metra line that will connect near Mitchell Field Airport. The proposed location is south of Layton Avenue on the present railroad tracks. A site map will be provided. A bus trolley will be needed to take Metra passengers back and forth from the airport to the Transit Center. The Cudahy Transit Center will have all of the functions of any typical metra transit center. In addition, the client wishes to add a retail component, day care and restaurant to the Transit Center. The client desires students to come up with their own retail solutions to be incorporated into the Cudahy Metra Transit Center part of their design. The City of Cudahy desires this proposed retail component to add an economic development activity to the Transit Center.
- Kenosha Community Center
The client for this development is the Community Center Development Committee located in the City of Kenosha. The proposed development will be a non-profit Community Center located on a 65-acre site on the outskirts of Kenosha. Various non-profit groups are to be located in this Community Center. A sampling of the groups targeted for the site include: the Boys and Girls Club, Kenosha Council on Family and Aging, Senior Action Center, Meals on Wheels, and the Little League. The Community Center will offer a wide range of spaces such as a gymnasium, a kitchen, a series of educational spaces, day care, and a banquet room. The total square footage could approach 80,000 square feet.
