MSOE's campus is located in downtown Milwaukee, within walking distance from Lake Michigan and many downtown attractions and businesses. The university currently has nine buildings, a centrally located athletic field, and numerous parking areas which make up the campus (see our campus map). Two of the main academic facilities are the Allen-Bradley Hall of Science and the Fred Loock Engineering Center. These two modern buildings house classrooms and laboratories, the Academic Computing Center, research facilities, and faculty offices. The Walter Schroeder Library provides research materials, database retrieval, computer services, and study areas. The library has more than 60,000 volumes and subscribes to more than 750 periodicals. The library is recognized for its excellent resources in engineering and management materials. The Student Life and Campus Center's ground floor houses the offices for the Architectural Engineering Department, and Software Engineering Department, along with classrooms and laboratories. In addition, it houses the Learning Resource Center, a department which serves students through tutoring, study groups and special academic assistance. The third floor and mezzanine level of the Campus Center include many of the administration offices, including the office of the President, Registrar, Career Placement, Admission and the International Student Advisor. The Campus Center also provides full dining services, lounge areas, a game room, student club rooms and activities areas, student life office, health services office, and a devotion room. A new highlight on campus is the Kern
Center.
The Kern Center is a 210,000-square-foot recreation, athletic, health and wellness
facility that was dedicated in fall 2004. The center exemplifies MSOE's philosophy
of a well-rounded university experience and is an important asset in
attracting prospective students and providing current students with
ample access to fitness, whether they are participating in NCAA athletics,
intramural sports or individual fitness programs.
